Types of Accommodation

Hotel
There are various categories of hotels which provide en-suite air conditioned accommodation including facilities such as a dining area, concierge desk. Hotels may include a swimming pool, restaurant, curio shop, beauty salon and/or a gym.

Guest House
These are usually run by the owner/manager and include facilities such as luxury en-suite accommodation, a breakfast room, a living room and television room. Additional features often include a swimming pool and tea and coffee making facilities.

Bed and breakfast
Usually in a private home with the owner living in or on the property and are usually limited to a few rooms. Facilities include accommodation with possible en-suite bathroom. Air conditioning and ceiling fans may or may not be included. In general guests share the living room area/s with the host. Breakfasts are usually served. There are no other meals provided unless specified.

Game & Nature Reserves
Usually in exclusive surroundings, most lodges offer game drives, accommodation and meals as an all inclusive cost. Each lodge will have a limited amount of suites. Facilities are found at the main lodge and can include dining room, library, sitting room, swimming pool and boma (outside eating area). Some lodges now include spa facilities.

Golfing Estates
Often set within a golfing estate and usually consist of a boutique style hotel with luxury features as well as a 9 or 18 hole golf course and golf pro shop. Additional facilities can include a spa, treatment rooms and restaurant.

Country Houses
Offering all the services of a small exclusive hotel including luxurious en suite accommodation, private sitting room, satellite television as well as tea and coffee making facilities. Additional features may include a dining area, swimming pool, spa or beauty treatment studio and sporting facilities.

Self-Catering
Here accommodation facilities are provided for guests to cater for themselves and usually include fully inclusive kitchens and sometimes a built in barbeque. Accommodation is provided for the advertised number of people the facility can house. Air conditioning is not necessarily available.
