Cape Town and City Bowl

Situated at the foot of Table Mountain the 'City Bowl' includes the Atlantic seaboard beaches, Table Bay Harbour, the city centre, trendy city suburbs a multitude of natural beauty, a variety of outdoor activities, a vast range of shopping and a diverse night life. There are many attractions, a mix of cultures and architecture.

  • Table Mountain - No visit is complete without a trip up Cape Town's most famous landmark, with its breathtaking views over the spectacular peninsula, city centre, Table Bay and Robben Island.

  • Castle of Good Hope - The oldest building in South Africa, the castle was built by the Dutch East India Company and established to re-supply ships en route to East Asia.

  • City Hall - One of the city centre's landmarks, it was from a balcony here that Nelson Mandela gave his historic speech on his release from prison.

  • The Company Gardens - Originally created to provide fresh produce for Dutch East India Company's ships en route to East Asia, it is now a beautiful public park and botanical garden.

  • The Museum Mile - Consisting of museums and historical buildings such as the South African Museum, The National Gallery, the Jewish Museum and Parliament.

  • Parliament - A blend of Georgian and Victorian architecture dating back to 1885, and known for its remarkable achievement in architecture and architectural development

  • Greenmarket Square - This cobbled square serves as a popular open-air flea market selling a variety of goods. Surrounding the square is a variety of restaurants, cafés and beautiful old buildings.

  • De Waterkant - This is one of the most fashionable areas in Cape Town. During the day it is an area where people work, live, shop and eat. At night it's a place to socialize and popular night spot for clubbing.

  • The Bo-Kaap - This cobble-stone area on the slopes of Signal Hill is the traditional home to Cape Town's Muslim community and contains many beautiful Mosques and brightly coloured homes

  • The V & A Waterfront - Set within a working harbour, this is Cape Town's most visited attraction consisting of a diversity of shopping, eating, entertainment as well as sightseeing facilities

  • Robben Island - A former prison and now national monument, the island was `home' to many of South Africa's freedom fighters including Nelson Mandela.

  • Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens - One of the world's leading botanical gardens showcasing only indigenous South African plants.

  • Cape Point - The southern most tip of the Cape Peninsula situated within the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, it consists of incredible scenery, magnificent views and the mountains of the Cape.

The West Coast

The West coast is packed with a concentration of more plant species than anywhere else in the world and is well known for its quality seafood.

  • The West Coast National Park - Contains 40% of the earth's remaining strandveld fynbos. During spring between August and September the area is covered with a tapestry of multi-coloured flowers.

  • Cederberg - A wilderness area, famous for its unusual rock formations, vegetation, wildlife, San rock art and well-known hiking trails.
