Waterberg Region
This diverse natural environment boasts an abundance of
wildlife, including the Big Five and many extraordinary natural
attractions is rich in Archaeological finds and San paintings
and is also considered to be one of the geological wonders
of the world.
- Waterberg Savannah Biosphere Reserve- This is
the largest Savannah Biosphere in Africa
- The Nylsvley wetlands - Home to the largest number
of water birds in southern Africa and a premier bird watching
location.
- Marakele National Park - Situated in the heart
of the Waterberg Mountains, it is home to elephant, black
and white rhino, buffalo, leopard and cheetah.
- The African Ivory Route - The route offers scenic
camps, exciting off-road experiences and many other adventure
opportunities for safari enthusiasts.
- Bela Bela Hot mineral springs - Discovered by
the Tswana in the 1800s and named Bela- Bela ('the water
that boils on its own'). Today the region is a popular health
and holiday resort area.

The Capricorn region
An area of fascinating history and culture incorporates:
San rock art, diverse geological formations, Voortrekker history
and Anglo Boer War.
- Polokwane - Founded in the gold rush days of the
1880s, it has witnessed Stone Age nomads, Iron Age settlements,
European migrations, wars and political upheaval.
- Makapans Valley - Considered one of the most important
archaeological sites in the world. It is here that numerous
significant sediments, bones and artifacts were found, dating
back 3, 3 million years.
- Modjadj Nature Reserve -Containing the largest
concentration of a single cycad species in the world.
- The Modjadji tribe - situated in the land surrounding
the Modjadj reserve, is a matriarchal society that has produced
five rain queens (only women are allowed to enter the village).
