• Ndebele People -The Ndebele people are world renowned for their vibrant house painting, bead work and crafts, all of which are on display at cultural villages in the region.

The Cosmos region

This region explodes with colour when exquisite pink and white cosmos flowers bloom in the late summer and is also known as 'big 5 country'.

Grass and wetlands

The region shares borders with Kwazulu-Natal , the Free State and Swaziland. It is also home to the 1 000-year-old ruin of the lost Legoya people and San paintings and is a birding paradise.

• Chrissiesmeer - The town gets its name from the large inland freshwater lake that is situated to the south of the town and attracts large flocks of birds, including large flocks of flamingos as well as a wide range of frogs.
