The Lowveld region
With its sub-tropical climate and abundant sunshine and
lush covered hills and valleys it forms the ideal base to
explore Mpumalanga from.
- Sudwala Caves- The caves contain the largest dolomite
chamber in the world which is a natural amphitheatre.
- Long Tom Pass -The second-highest mountain pass
in South Africa and was named after the cannons that the
Boers lugged up the pass to try and repel the British forces
during the Second Anglo-Boer War (1899-1902).

Wild Frontier region
This region borders Swaziland, the southern part of the
world renowned Kruger National Park and Mozambique and is
known for its hiking trails, natural beauty and hot springs.
- Kruger National Park: The Kruger National Park
stretches across Mpumalanga into the Limpopo Province. One
of the largest game sanctuaries in Africa and still considered
to be one of the world's foremost wildlife reserves is home
to +- 145 mammal species including the Big Five; namely:
Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Rhino and Buffalo and over 500
species of birds
- Barberton-Home of the Barberton Daisy, the town
is situated in close proximity to Swaziland, the Kruger
National and Nelspruit and was named after the Barber brothers
and their cousin who discovered a rich gold reef in the
Makhonjwa Mountains.
- Badplaas-Situated at the foot of the Hlumuhlumu
Mountains, 283km east of Johannesburg and well known for
its hot mineral springs and surrounding Emanzana Nature
Reserve.
