Reuben's now at The One&Only in Cape Town |
|
| |
The One&Only Hotel in Cape Town is proud to launch Reuben Riffle’s first urban restaurant.
Reuben rose to fame when his first restaurant, Reuben's, opened to much acclaim in the historical town of Franschhoek in 2004. He has since won the coveted Eat Out 'Restaurant of the Year' and 'Chef of the Year' awards.
Appealing to the culinary side of the soul, Reuben's is enjoyed by young and old.
Deceptively simple, wholesome bistro fare with fresh flavours, generous portions, and beautifully plated dishes are served at Rueben's.
The restaurant has a sophisticated, but unfussy, brasserie feel and the food provides the exciting combination of local flavours that one would expect from one of South Africa's most loved chefs.

New hotel for V&A Waterfront scheduled to open in March 2011 |
|
|
Newmark Hotels has announced plans to open a new five-star boutique hotel, The Queen Victoria, in Cape Town’s historical V & A Waterfront.
Scheduled to open in March 2011, the hotel echoes the V&A Waterfront’s royal connections and takes its name from Queen Victoria of England who visited the Cape in 1870 with her son, Prince Alfred.
While grounded in historical and royal references, the hotel will be contemporary in style.
The overall look will
encapsulate luxury and attention to detail that defines small, luxury retreats around the world and will reflect it’s unique Waterfront location.
Currently under construction, the hotel is slowly being transformed into a series of light-filled spaces that make the most of views in all directions. A triple-volume atrium, featuring a spiral staircase and glass elevator, will form an exciting focal point for the hotel. From the lobby, a restaurant and bar lead out on to a terrace. There are 35 rooms and suites, including a penthouse suite with a terrace for alfresco entertaining.
The hotel will enjoy spectacular views encompassing harbour, city, mountains and ocean.

Unique Kwena Huts for Gondwana Game Reserve |
|
| |
Gondwana Game Reserve’s eagerly anticipated Kwena Huts have officially opened. Situated in the heart of the Garden Route, Gondwana holds the distinction of being the only Fynbos reserve in the world with free roaming Big Five game as well as other endangered species.
The Kwena Huts 14 private suites are based on the circular shape and structure of traditional Khoi-San dwellings, offering something unique to the area. They have been landscaped for privacy and feature spacious en-suite bedrooms and include clay pot fireplaces. Contemporary luxuries such as skylight ceilings have been created for star gazing and 180˚ views of the breathtaking valley and the dramatic Langeberg Mountains.
True to its Khoi-San influence, Gondwana emulates an African village and features intimate pathways to the Kwena Huts and public areas. A separate reception building houses the curio shop and communal fireplace. The modern bar and lounge facilities contrast African tradition and modern accents in an open-plan environment and the infinity pool overlooks two waterholes frequented by the Big Five.
On return from game drives, nature walks and horse safaris, guests are treated to surprise bush breakfasts, romantic picnics, evening barbecues and scenic sundowners.
