The Bojanala Region
Consisting of natural bushveld vegetation with a number
of fine game parks and includes a large variety of historical
and cultural interests. This region includes the internationally-renowned
Lost City Sun City complex and the Pilanesberg Game Reserve.
- The Magaliesberg Mountains - Just half an hour
away from the 'big city lights', the mountains are the perfect
weekend getaway spot, offering a country experience and
is a popular destination for bird-watchers and hikers.
- Balloon Safaris - Savor this incredible aerial
sight seeing opportunity. Fly over the Magalies River Valley,
Hartebeespoort Dam, the Magaliesberg Mountains or the Pilanesberg
Game Reserve.
- The Sun City Complex - Africa's kingdom of pleasure
and rated amongst the world's most unusually conceived lavish
inland resorts, it is an enormous, opulent extravaganza
of luxurious hotels, entertainment centres, restaurants,
gaming rooms, shops, discos and extensive, beautifully landscaped
grounds.
- Pilanesberg Game Reserve - Adjacent to the famous
Sun City resort and just two hours from Johannesburg, the
Pilanesberg is home to thousands of animals including the
Big Five and currently the fourth largest game reserve in
South Africa. The Pilanesberg mountain range exists as a
result of a volcano that erupted millions of years ago.
- Madikwe Game Reserve- This reserve is regarded
as one of the finest conservation areas in Africa, and is
home to the big five and is famous for its wild dog, spotted
hyena, cheetah and elephant population.
- Cradle of Humankind - A set of caves west of Johannesburg
is said to be the world's richest hominid site and now a
World Heritage Site. Meet the famous "Mrs Ples" and the
amazing "Little Foot".
- De Wildt Cheetah Farm - Just an hour from Johannesburg,
this centre was established in 1971, and is renowned for
the successful breeding of the cheetah (including the rare
king cheetah) as well as the brown hyena, African wild dog
and various species of owls and vultures.

Bophirima region
Known as "The Texas of South Africa", the region's vast
expanse of African savannah bushland is home to a great variety
of game including lion, buffalo and rhino encountered at number
of privately owned game reserves.
- Taung Heritage Site - The famous archaeological
site where the fossilized skull was discovered in 1924.
Due to the discovery, the site was proclaimed a World Heritage
site.
- The Azure Blue Pools - Situated at the Buxton
quarry, the pools are surrounded by picturesque caves and
streams. The pools were apparently discovered after a dynamite
explosion in a mountain in which lime was being mined. This
is a popular hiking, abseiling and picnic venue with barbecue
facilities set alongside this unspoiled spring winding through
the ancient limestone valley.
