Holders of passports from outside SADC countries require a visa. These can be obtained at certain border posts
By Air: Maputo International Airport (MPM), ± 3 km from Maputo.
By Road: Border crossings via South Africa (4), Swaziland (2), Zimbabwe (4), Zambia (1), Malawi (3) & Tanzania (2).

Language & Currency

Language: Portuguese is the official language; however, English is widely spoken throughout the country.
Currency: The Mozambican Meticais (MZM) is used, however USD and ZAR are acceptable foreign currencies.

The dry season (June - October) often offers perfect tropical weather, with clear skies, plenty of sun and almost no rain.
Travel Tip: Plan your trip between July - October for the best chance of sighting humpback whales.
