Here are some of our favourite Wine Estates that are perfect for families, friends, and taste buds. Needless to say the list of fantastic Wine Estates in South Africa is endless, but we hope the ones we have selected will show how much variety and uniqueness is possible.

La motte wine estate

Nestled within the Franschhoek Valley, La Motte has received international recognition for having produced some of the finest wines in the world. La Motte is not only a place where fine wines can be enjoyed, but you can also delight in the stimulating cultural-historical experience of the La Motte Museum. Here you can delve into the rich history of the estate and browse through the gorgeous art exhibitions. An estate of many trades, La Motte also offers access to a hiking trail where you can venture out into the flora of the picturesque Franschhoek Valley and experience the best of La Motte’s natural assets. Hazendal Wine Estate

Another gem of the Winelands, situated on the slopes of the Helderberg Mountains, is Ken Forrester Vineyards.” Having received national and international recognition, Ken Forrester’s vineyards is widely known as the “Home of Chenin Blanc.” If that is not enough convincing needed for a visit, then we don’t know what is! Springfield Estate

Situated in what’s known as the valley of wine and roses, Springfield Estate is a family-run wine farm with a philosophy paying homage to the natural process of wine. Their philosophy is about keeping the wine as uncomplicated as possible and having the wine “make itself” as it was done many years ago. This is the perfect place to spend a relaxing afternoon by the lake leisurely sipping on a delicious glass of wine and absorbing the picturesque views of the mountain-ringed Robertson Valley.

Creation Wines

Creation Wines, situated high on the Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge (Heaven-and-Earth Ridge) in the Overberg region close to Hermanus, is considered to be “a little piece of paradise in South Africa.” Here, fine wines of rare balance, elegance, finesse, and distinction can be appreciated in a gorgeous setting. However, what is real a crowd-pleaser and has many coming back for more is their incredible Creation Small Plate Pairing. This is where six different small-plated dishes are served each with a different wine to complement the plate. A visit to Creation is not to be missed!
